Game Speeds
The Sims 3 has different speeds as The Sims 2. Here speeds range is between 0 and 4. To change the game speed, we can use the numeric keys or the control panel with play, pause and so buttons..
0 → pause the game
1 → normal speed
2 → faster speed
3 → so faster speed
4 → super-speed. This is a new speed introduced in The Sims 3. When all sim are sleeping or working, the super speed start automatically.
Known issues
Perhaps you couldn't use all speeds if you have a PC near to the minimum requirements. Super-speed need some resources to work, this mean an higher processor and a good video card.
Btw, even if your is a SUPER PC, sometimes game speed don't work in a right way and time don't go faster. This happen if you're playing game in windowed mode for speed 3 and 4. So if you want use speed 3 and 4 try to come back to full screen by press ALT+RETURN. Now, speed should work.
Sometimes, when you come back to full screen game speed doesn't work. In this case, try to save and quit the game. Launch game again and keep it always to full screen.

Control speed with cheats
If you have problems with speeds control you can try to use cheats to activate them.
The cheat to control speeds require testingcheats enabled.
Let's go...
Open the cheat box by press:
and type:
| testingcheatsenabled true | activate debug mode |
then, for deactivate it type
| testingcheatsenabled false | deactivate debug mode |
Now you've to insert the cheat to control speed:
| speed <NR> | modify the speed of game. <NR> is a number, between 0 to 4, where 0 is the pause mode and 4 the super speed. Note that speed seems have problems when you play in windowed mode. |
So for example typing speed 0 will pause the game.
